That's fine if you're home 24 hours a day. What about when you're at work? Shotguns don't shoot themselves. Unless Ronnie has it rigged to fire when the door opens.

I recommend a big dog. The bigger, the better. With lots of sharp teeth.

This is a good reminder that we need to renew :-)
Correct, if it is already there and wired up, even if you get a new unit, no inspection is required, it is only for new wires in the house.

I am having a new AC system put in where none existed (house had window units), and the HVAC guy requires a licensed Master Electrician to make the connection. This requires new wiring to the panel box, so he has to pull a permit. The City will not approve a new connection to the existing panel, and it has to be replaced. Because the house still has knob and tube wiring, the City says that if the panel is replaced, the knob and tube wire has to come out. If the knob and tube comes out, the entire house needs to be rewired. Since the house has to be rewired, the City has to inspect every switch, every outlet, every light fixture. $72 for a meter inspection, $77 for anything over 150AMPs, $72 to turn the electricity back on. $1 for each outlet, $1 for each light fixture and on and on.

Don't believe me, check this out:

I don't know what the penalties are if you caught skipping any of this, but I will not find out.

The City of Houston is sucking xxxx for beer money if you know what I mean.
