Thanks for looking. I've been offered an opportunity to accept a leadership position in Sugar Land, TX. I'm a single 25 year old who'd be moving from Orange County, CA to Texas. Can anyone recommend any apartment/condo communities? How different is it from CA? Any help is truly appreciated. Thank you!

Congratulations on your offer! There seem to be a lot of Orange County and LA-area residents in Fort Bend County.
But to help you further, you probably need to be more specific on what you're looking for: budget, type of lifestyle, interests, urban or suburban, etc.

Would recommend Lone Star Condos at Town square. This is a great place in the heart of Sugar land. 1 bdr starts at 1800 a month. You can actually work to restaurants and shopping

If you are single and 25, you aren't probably going to want to live in the city rather than Sugar Land. Sugar Land is pretty limited for young singles.

1800 dollars a month to live there? Wow, no wonder they have so many vacancies.

Sugarland isn't the hippest place for single people but there are quite a few recent grads that live there due to the concentration of employers in the area (tech, medical, O&G). sugarland isn't the worst commute in Houston to get into the city for a night out

Sugarland is a diverse suburb. You'll find more ethnic and religious diversity there than in Orange Co. But, it's still a standard suburb. Some areas are wealthier than others but nothing atypical

Lots of shopping, chain restaurants, and growing group of mom and pop ethnic restaurants. More and more bars are opening but again they are chains. Still works for something after the work hour. Sugarland Town Center is always packed and mostly I see young-youngish people there.

There are a gazillion apartment complexes in the area. A lot of them that I run across are located along 59 and HWY 6. The Gables is a large chain apartment community with several developments there at various prices and age. You can find a nice 1 bedroom apartment for $850-900 a month. Most of the apartments you will be able to view/check out online

Overall, it is a safe community. I always felt suburban Texas is more similar than dissimilar to CA suburbs. But, Texas is not California and houston isn't orange county. It's nothing too drastic

If you are a single 25yo and no kids or schools to worry about you way want to live in the more happening Galleria/River Oaks/Montrose/Kirby areas. Its about a 30 minute commute to SugarLand and you will be opposite the traffic. Since you are from Orange County CA, price should not be an issue. Houston is much cheaper than CA.

If you dont want the commute , then SugarLand has pretty good apartments and is very safe to live in. Pick one around the 59/Hwy 6 intersection . The area is nice.
