I'm not a hater but the hype over In N Out is just ridiculous.

It's just a freaking bland burger...not everything from CA is grand

Keep McDonald's strong

McDonald's is an economic engine for the Houston region – no less important than the Texas Medical Center and the Port of Houston. The City of Houston and its McDonald's partners have made significant investments over several decades to make McDonald's a premier fast food choice. It is thriving, and so is Houston. That’s no coincidence.

One of the reasons that Houston’s economy is so strong is the omnipresent golden arches that fuel commerce and create jobs in Houston. McDonald's is the focal point for burger traffic from around the world. But now the city is considering a proposal to divide Houston’s burger market within the city. That proposal would weaken McDonald's and weaken Houston. In N Out wants approval to use vacant lots to sell its burgers.

But splitting Houston’s burger market will:
reduce the international profile of Houston in the burger world, result in loss of burger service, and weaken Houston’s economy.
result in Houston competing with itself rather than with cities such as Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta, which have single, strong burger chains.
mean fewer burgers, lost jobs and wasteful spending.

This isn’t about McDonald's vs. In N Out. It’s about Houston.

Allowing burger service at In N Out will hurt Houston.

Houston has built an economy that competes globally because of the efficient supply networks that serve hundreds of McDonald's restaurants. McDonald's has excess capacity and can handle additional demand for burgers from Houston.

We share your commitment to Houston.

McDonald's employs 5,000 people in Houston and has, for more than six decades, passionately supported the Houston community, providing economic backing, charitable contributions and volunteer activism. We have partnered with the city and have invested nearly $10 million in our restaurants since 1996. We’re spending $1 million in additional upgrades right now, and have plans to spend $6 million more over the next several years, assuming demand continues to meet our expectations.

As Houston citizens and supporters of every McDonald's that operates in Houston, please read through the information on this site – get the FACTS – and do your part to Keep McDonald's Strong by sending a letter to Houston elected officials.

What I find ridiculous is the reaction towards businesses from California coming into Texas. If this had been a chain from Wisconsin, I doubt we'd see this kind of disdain.

For the price point, In N Out serves a decent FAST FOOD CHAIN burger. Comparisons to restaurants burgers are also ridiculous, IMO, when those burgers are easily twice the cost of an In N Out burger. As well, those restaurants burgers are rarely available through convenient drive-thru's throughout the Houston area & suburbs.

But it is all really a matter of taste and opinion, isn't it? I think McDonald's, Carl's Jr & BK have disgusting burgers but they will always have their fans. So, too, will In N Out.

The good thing is that you have the choice not to eat at In N Out. Isn't that grand?

I hate fast food burgers. Just not worth the calories. I think Pappa's Burgers and a few other single owned joints are worth the splurge....every once and a great while.
You can fit an InO burger into a daily diet pretty easily. A double double is lkke 650-700 cals. Great macros, too. Just let your other meal be a salad or something. Fast good gets a bad rap. It's not terrible in moderation. It's the people that eat it everyday for at least one meal on those days that are the problem.
