League city is divided by I45, but is one side worse than the other? Or is the south side next to Dickinson bad?

I always hear crime is rampant in Houston and Harris County. Does it get better in Galveston County?

Is there a local police force there? Are they effective?

Please help...thank you.

Yeah - I wouldn't worry about crime in League City too much. Mostly petty stuff, crimes of opportunity - unlocked cars, doors, windows, burglary - that kind of stuff. relatively minor stuff.

Well some bad crime still happens due to the size of League City and the proximity to the Houston metro and also the southern end of Galveston county, but overall it's probably one of the safer (and I use that in a relative term) areas around. As noted above it's mostly theft and stuff like that. There is no bad part of town. That may change in the future, but as of now it doesn't exist. The worst parts are simply old and not at all crime infested. There definitely is a police force as the town is just over 80,000 in population. Crime reports are often posted here http://www.ultimateclearlake.com/stories/crime

It's better in North Galveston County. Don't get me started on Galveston itself.

League City is pretty safe...pretty much all crimes are below the national average...and well below that of Houston.

www.crimereports.com is a good site to use. You can view up to a month of data. Not all cities participate, but League City does.

Also when you look at crime statistics on many popular real estate sites, make sure to note that when you review unincorporated areas in Harris county (i.e. Katy, Klein, Spring, Cypress, Kingwood, etc), they're simply using the average county statistics (which are significantly higher) - they do not give an accurate representation of those specific areas.

All i see on that crime map is that we have WAY TOO MANY sex offenders in every section of the greater Houston area - regardless of price of area, age, etc.

You can learn about the crime in League City by visiting LCPD's Police-to-Citizen (P2C) site, here:

League City / Webster / Nassau Bay / Friendswood / Alvin / La Porte / Deer Park / Galveston Police Departments P2C - provided by OSSI
