Shop it. More and more carriers are not writing new business in the county because they cannot get enough premium for the risk taken. Those that will renew will likely do so at an increased premium.

We have Nationwide. It renews in May. Stayed the same for the last 3 years. My neighbor one block over, much newer house went up to $5000. He shopped around, got it for 1/2, but he is putting on a metal roof.

Just be glad we can get insurance. My kid in Tallahassee says insurers are leaving Florida.

My homeowners insurance has been steadily rising just about every year and they always seem to have an excuse as to why that is.

Mine went up 28% this year. I shopped it, nobody could match it, nowhere close.

Went to Liberty Mutual and cut my Allstate price down about 30% in January. Better coverage too.

Ask about raising your deductible as well. May save you a couple bucks, but you have to be ready to pay for more in an event.

Read over the quote. If your house costs 150k to rebuild then don't let them insure it for 200k. Also don't let them include the land. It's not going anywhere.
