Over 60,000 people will flood the section of Westheimer between Hazard and Montrose to attend the annual gay pride parade.

Of course there will be drag queens, oiled guys dancing in underwear, and rowdy lesbians cat-calling, but there are lots of straight people...even some families with children.

Thoughts? Plans?

If it isn't like this parade/fair/gathering, it's a waste of time in my opinion:

Folsom Street Fair, San Francisco, September 30, 2007 Part 1

I typically go but may not be this year. feeling under the weather. there tend to be a lot of teens and families there. i would call it a family friendly event. you shouldn't have to be worried about taking kiddos there at all unless you are some staunch puritan. the most racy thing is a man in a speedo. outside of the US that's not a big deal

definitely do take water. if you get there early enough you have space for a little cooler or at least bring a bottle or two

Montrose used to be very gay, eclectic, bohemian etc. However, now it is becoming more baggy and more like Washington Ave. It is still the coolest part of Houston. I wonder what part of Houston will become the new hip area.
