I spent several days doing research trying to find the best deal on a generator.
I thought I'd share with you guys to help you save some time.

I was looking for a generator to power my refrigerator, microwave (not on all the time), TV, a few lights and a couple of fans.
My stove and water heater use gas.
I did a few quick calculations and I'm pretty sure that a 3000/4000W generator would be good enough.

I spent a lot of time looking for the best deal and this is what I found
Champion 3000W running (3500W peak) generator at Lowe's for $329 plus tax.
At least on the Lowe's webpage, there's lots of positive reviews.

I got one last year for around $250 from advanced auto (they don't sell them anymore). It wouldn't start without the low oil circuitry disabled. But after taking that off, it starts on the first pull every time. I just fired it up the other day in case Debby was coming our way and it started on the first pull. Search for reviews on this unit and there are a LOT of RVers praising it.

I didn't know generators were so cheap! I'll definitely get one if that's the case.

I don't know much about them, I haven't even ran mine yet,

Yeah, you can always leave it boxed up and when a big hurricane hits and everyone is without power except for you, sell it for 2X to 4X what you paid for it. Only downside I see is you need to get enough gas beforehand for the thing to be useful. So you might need to store several 5-gallon tanks of gas.

I think is easier and safer to make sure that your car's gas tank is full

So you are going to siphon gas from your car to your generator when you need it?
