I saw a license plate today that had the REMAX (real estate company) logo on it. See attached image...

I know all about the personalized plates, the colleges, the save the whales, the Texas star, etc. I wasn't aware you could have a business image on a personalized plate. Does this mean they (REMAX) ordered a certain minimum number, or can anyone do this? Can I have my company logo become a license plate?

It's called a "Specialized Plate" and they are limited to certain organizations. To get one, you have to have concrete evidence that you are part of the organization.

I read that page, and two or three other links listed. They all mention colleges, special interest groups (Boy Scouts, Blood Donors, etc), sports teams and more.

Nowhere does it make any reference to the ability to have a plate for a commercial organization, such as ReMax.

Specialty License Plate Sponsor FAQs

There is a brochure linked which describes how to apply for a specialty plate.

http://ftp.txdmv.gov/pub/txdot-info/...p_brochure.pdf

One is through myplates.com if you are a for-profit enterprise. The deposit is $4,610. Perusing the plates myplates.com has online, I see ford plates, a hamburger plate, and Freebirds burritos.....

Thanks. Your Internet searching (AKA google-fu) is better than mine!

I'm stunned the state would allow commercial images on license plates. OTOH, I'm not.

All I know, is that this is the best specialized license plate I've ever seen.
I actually saw it on the highway in Kansas City.
