My wife and I are thinking of moving out to Katy in a year. She works in the Med Center I work in the Galleria area.

This would be an hour drive for her one way. Is this normal for people that live out in Cinco Ranch?

Takes me an avg of 31 minutes from my driveway to parking lot at work in the mornings. An avg of 27 minutes from parking lot home to driveway in the afternoon. Commuting on Westpark Tollway. I live near Falcon Point and work near the Galleria.

I live in Cinco SW, work downtown. 35miles. Takes me:

35 minutes in the morning leaving at 5:45am on i10
40-45 in the evening leaving work at 4:15pm on WPT.

Depending on where in the Galleria (and how easy it is to access WP tollway) subtract ~5 minutes in the morning and maybe 10 minutes in the evening.

I drive non-peak hours and it takes me 35-40 min via I-10 to make it to work (east of downtown) Peak hours normally adds 10-15 on the drive.

There is a bus, #298 I think, that leaves from the Kingsland park n ride and goes to the medical center. That might be an option for your wife.

I work downtown and take the bus. about 30-35 minutes....

Same commute for me except I don't leave the house or work as early
Takes me about an hour each way for me leaving the house at 6:30am and leaving work around 4:30ish

I think time of travel is key here. Most people who take ~30min leave before 7:30 and go home before 5pm. I find it a huge difference if travelling during peak hours. Also, traffic will only get worse as more people move to west katy and fulshear. Galleria isnt bad, TMC is too long of a commute imo, but it works for a lot of people.
