You should go now - don't even wait until one is in the Gulf. Evacuate when you hear one actually has a name. Rinse and repeat whenever there is a new one. Apply for unemployment benefits now, because you are going to be fired for not showing up for 5 months.

Thanks for the responses! This weekend I do plan to do some early preparation just in case. I never buy bottled water or canned goods, but it seems like a good idea to have it on hand. Also need to pick up some batteries for our flashlights. My house is 100 years old, so it has definitely weathered a few hurricanes

I was curious if anyone inside the loop did anything with the windows... like taping them or boarding them up?
