The commute on that road is fairly good at this point, often people boast about quick downtown times. So much for that.

You can thank all the people that are against spending in new infrastructure.

We can be smart like people were in the 40s-60s and plan things before growth and build infrastructure for it.
Or we can do just like any 3rd World city/country and wait until traffic is absolutely insane to start thinking about fixing the problem.
