I love outdoor theater. Loved the Muny in St. Louis. Loved Shakespeare in the Park in NY. What do you guys think of this venue? The nice thing about Houston is you have much nicer weather year round so you can get in a lot more performances. But this looks like a nice gem in the middle of the city.

It is a great little setup. I've only been a couple times but the quality of the performers and venues is quite strong, especially for the price!

I LOVE Miller Outdoor Theater! I've been on several bike rides in the evenings and we've stopped by to see if anything is going on. Numerous times we have watched rehearsals for free.

It is good if you can sit in the theater area. They do July 4th there as well. Only a small portion of the July 4th attendees can sit within viewing distance. If you are down the hill, as the vast majority of people are, you unfortunately can hear nothing. Houston Symphony played this year and we all had no clue whether the performance was going on, when it was going to be over, etc. They ran 40 minutes or so late this year and a lot of people left before the fireworks show out of frustration as we had no clue what was going on. Would have been very nice had they had speakers which projected out into the park.

I prefer to sit on the grass. Take your cooler, have a picnic, etc. It's 420 friendly too.

We picked up free tickets earlier in the day for Hamlet last week. We got great seats in the middle isle. You can purchase or bring your own food. With the big ceiling fans they have running and the breeze it made the weather beareable to watch a great play. The performers did a great job. A lot of people sitting and also in the grass. People were fairly organized, not many problems getting there or leaving the place.

For those of you who sit in the grass, aren't the mosquitoes an issue?
