The Entertainment district doesn't have to be all casinos. I just named that because it is a huge money earners.

But I am talking about a concentration of options. a place you can go club/bar hoping, shopping, etc. The Casinos would just give things themes, and tie everything together

I feel Galveston could offer that. The Seawall could be a whole new entertainment area for the metro and turn it around from the eyesore it currently is. Might even restore service to the streetcar there.

Yes, but face it, galveston it's not a convenient 6 block walk from convention hotel.

Could be a great tourist destination. Good grid, beaches, cool breezes, Schlitterbahn, walkable, has the infrastructure in place.

Who cares if its walkable if there is no way to get there if you dont have a car. Downtiwn houston is central to most of the metro. No one goes to DC and had to drive to baltimore for fun.

Houston needs an entertainment district. Houston needs more life not another get away in the far out burbs

What does improving galveston have to do with the need in Houston?

With a commuter line to Galveston of course.
Galveston/Houston, same metro.

again, HOUSTON needs some concentrated entertainment. The center of population is far away from galveston, and getting further. The metro is moving north and west.

Houston needs to improve its downtown and its core, not stretch out things to the burbs.

You don't encourage development in the core by building your entertainment district 25miles

Again its alright if Galveston improves for tourists, but the point if the thread is to build a theme park or an Urban district for the core

Well with that being said, that counts the major Theme Park Idea out. Not enough room.

Although I'd like to see both eventually come to Houston, I think a major, walkable entertainment/casino district would have the most impact right now. It would be the biggest breakthrough in the immediate area of the central core. So my vote goes to that.

Stoneclaw makes a good point, that rules out a suburban theme park.
I'm not saying more focus should be on Galveston and not Houston but Galveston should be a priority as well as central Houston.
