Hi all,

We are looking at a possible transfer to Houston from Europe with my husbands job. He would be located in the Woodlands and we are hoping to get our children into Awty. Unfortunately we understand that living close to either is going to mean a crazy commute for one of us Any suggestions on an area that we should look into to purchase a house that would be somewhere in the middle of both? Would prefer no longer than a 30 min commute to school max. and hopefully no longer than 45 mins for my husband. Any suburbs that would work for us? Looking to spend up to around $600 000. I have never been to Houston so have no idea of the layout of the suburbs and where are the nicer areas to live. My husband has only been there for business. We have lived in the USA previously but were located in VA.

Thanks for any help

I will say however, that with rush hour traffic, it will be longer than 30 min. Have you checked out The John Cooper School in The Woodlands? I'm sure you have your reasons on sending your kids to Awty. I just think since your husband will be working in The Woodlands, you all would be happier without having to deal with traffic everyday.

Yes, that is an idea considering the husband will be going against traffic.

I was about to say that.
The closer to downtown the better, because your husband will be driving against traffic.

I second the Heights or particularly Woodland Heights. Our close friends just moved there with a child at Awty and Dad soon commuting to The Woodlands with Exxon's upcoming move. They've lived in Houston for 15 years so it was an informed choice.

One of our child's classmates at Awty lives in The Woodlands, on the western side (77382). At nearly forty miles the commute would seem crazy, but they've been doing it for four years now so it must be working for them.

I second checking out John Cooper.

When we moved here DH worked 2 days in TW and 2 days in Jersey Village and 1 in Dallas. We came to Champions and still love it. The commute from here would be more 30 minutes. Champion Forest and Cypresswood is 20 minutes to the new Exxon installation. Ten more minutes to the Woodlands.

Does Awty have bus service? That might help. John Cooper sends a bus to Champion Forest Church parking lot.

They relocated the Jersey Village office to south of 290 and the Loop. That commute took 45 minutes from Champions.

I thought I remembered Awty having bus service to The Woodlands but currently it does not. It may have been cancelled since we started there as routes change with demand, or maybe I imagined it.
