That's just sad. I thought this stadium was supposed to be a soccer specific venue. That's why soccer gets not respect in this country.

What are you talking about? It is designed as a soccer stadium and the Dynamo control the stadium. As with any stadium, however, it was always anticipated that other events would be held there. Does Reliant host only the Texans? No. High school football is played there, concerts are held there, soccer is played there, the bloody rodeo is held there. Does the Toyota Center host only the Rockets? No. Concerts are held there, hockey is played there. Does this mean that football and basketball or the Texans and Rockets are not respected? If you build a piece of infrastructure like a stadium, you seek to maximize its use and, thereby, maximize revenue. That is all it means.

The pitch was designed to be wide enough for rugby (Team USA has played there) and for football (college and high school games will be played there). A concert stage was built into the stadium as well in order to allow for concerts.

Man what are you talking about? Do you not realize that it's multiple uses for a sports venue??

Football tears up the turf and it never really gets to the carpet like state you find in the better Euro leagues. But the "kick and run" style we are used to seeing around here I guess it does not matter.

Are you saying that Reliant stadium has never been used for rodeo and monster trucks?

That is funny. Guess you have never seen the pitch at Stamford Bridge around January. One season, it was basically a giant sandbox. European pitches get torn up so badly due to fixture congestion that relaying ther pitch mid-season is common. Drop down below the top level in each country's pyramid and the pitch gets downright awful as the cost of relaying gets problematic.

Apart from that, if you think the Dynamo play kick and run, then you obviously aren't watching.

As proof, here are some pics from when the Stamford Bridge pitch reached the worst it has ever been back in 2003. This is an extreme case, but point is that the pitches are not as pristine as they appear on TV. Should also note that football is no tougher on a pitch than soccer is. What is rough on a pitch is too much going on over too short a time and insufficient funds to well maintain the pitch. The pitch at BBVA Compass is pretty state of the art. It has held up very well to the tight schedule this season (remember that the Dynamo did not have its first home game until 2 months into the season so had to make up a lot of games) in addition to having a couple of international soccer matches and a rugby match. A little football is not going to hurt.

Well you better get used to it, because BBVA compass stadium is also the home stadium for Texas Southern university football team.
