Let's remember the facts about our great toll roads... The beltway cost $350 million smackers to build. Once paid off, they were supposed to stop charging tolls. Stats today show that the Beltway makes $1,000,000 per day. I'm no math expert, but that would show the beltway paid off in a little over a year... I think there's a lot of greed going on...

I use the west Sam Hou on the weekends and if it were free, I would not even think about using it. All those cars on the feeder roads who can't afford to pay a toll will be using it. Don't kid yourself into thinking a free Sam Hou would be a benefit. It would just be another parking lot.

It would indeed be silly to make it free. That thing is already clogged in rush hour. it would be a parking lot if everyone could get on for free.

That's exactly why I'm against toll roads,
it only benefits rich people, while the poor people that would get fired from their job if they are 2 minutes late to work are stuck driving on the feeder road.

Po' folk will have to plan better then.

I'm just not sure how raising the fees helps. It doesn't make cars disappear. If the state needs revenue, they can stop spending more than they make first.

Rich people use Beltway 8? Um, it's not expensive to use. And most poor people drive newer cars and have iphones. They're poor for a reason, poor decisions.

No, he dosen't know what he's talking about. How'd you know how many people would be using it if it was free? You don't.

If you have to use it twice a day, that's 3 Dollars. That's 60 Dollars a month. And how would you know who is "poor" and who has "iphones" and "newer cars" despite being "poor", as you claim?

"Poor decisions", huh? You mean the minimum wage that's too low to live on? I'm wondering who you think you are that you think you can make such a blanket claim about others.

How about a significant tax break for businesses for each employee they let telecommute three or more days a week? With jail time (or even better - caning lol) for fraudulent reporting.

Less traffic and more sanity. Done properly it could very well be revenue neutral.

It would almost certainly be more effective than crap like Solyndra.

Somewhat agree, my boss drives at least a 10 year old car living in a place named after a yearly holiday.

I love driving on unpolluted roads and roads of very few accidents, so a change would be bad. As important, I want to drive with insured folks.
