300 bucks??? No brainer, especially for a first time owner.

I'm new to Houston and Texas in general, so I am not sure if flooding is an issue in Cypress or not. Any advice would be appreciated.

Make sure they aren't over insuring you and take the higher deductible.

We're just outside the 500 year flood plain but we bought it anyway. You never know where it will flood in Houston and your homeowners will not cover any water damage due to flooding. With all the inner loop development, we've noticed areas that never flooded or ponded 5-10 years ago are starting to now. We hear the same thing from so many people we know all over Houston: "Our neighborhood never used to flood and now it does with the slightest rainfall."

Thanks guys. Since it is so inexpensive, I think I will pick up flood insurance just to be safe.

Please sign petition to revise or reverse new 100 year flood map. Many people do not have to money to hire a surveyor to prove they are not in flood zone. They cannot afford insurance. After you sign there is a place you can click to share on your Facebook page to ask friends and family to sign.m currently working with congressmen but we need more signatures
