I would disagree with the blanket statement that Cali doesn't have authentic Mexican. In a city that would be the second largest Mexican population if it were located in Mexico (Los Angeles) I guarantee you, you can find the real stuff.

Try using MenuFreak to find out which restaurants offer specific menu items, then read reviews to see if the menu item looks promising.

Or, Google the desired food and learn to make whatever you miss. That's what I had to do with Chile Colorado Burritos. They just don't seem to exist in Houston.

Wanting California Mexican food in Texas is like wanting Texas BBQ in Memphis..its still BBQ just different style.....

Maybe I have not found the great Mexican places here in the Bay Area but I have tried several and am not in the least impressed!

I'll take Tex Mex and Houston Mexican food any day over what I have found here

Try Pappasitos for good Tex Mex...Man O Man I wish they would open up one here!
