We are buying a brand new david weekley home, built from the ground up and they are giving us a special 7% employer discount.

Question is, are we still able to bargain and get the price down even lower on top of that? Or no? I don't have experience in this home buying arena, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

We are not at our final contract yet, due to changes throughout the building process... so if we can bargain and if its worth it, i would like to know now before we sign the final papers.

They offer that "special" 7% discount as standard. I bought recently from another builder and got 10% of the base price worth of incentives thrown in. It never hurts to bargain. If they wont do anything with the base price you can ask for a bigger lot with a waived lot premium or ask them to throw in a free upgrade to stainless appliances or a refrigerator or something of that nature. Texas is one of the only positive markets right now for a lot of builders, and the cash flow here is helping them ride out massive losses in Florida, Nevada and California, so they should be very willing to work with you.
