If your meter is has a readout on it, make sure every faucet or appliance that could be using water is off and watch the meter. Most mechanical ones have a small dial that will turn to indicate a leak. If the meter still registers flow with everything off, then you have a leak somewhere.

The surface water is expensive but it tastes a lot better. We should abolish all investor - owned utilities

Water 37.43 (24.60 flat, usage: 2 dollar per thousand gallons)
Sewer 45.94 (Flat as explained by the company)
City GRP Fee 37.99 (2.42 per thousand gallons)
Fire 21.50 (Flat as explained by the company)

Therefore, basically, even if I'm not using a single gallon of water, I'm paying 24.6+45.94+21.5 every month. Robbery!

This billing period I maybe ran the sprinkler system twice and my bill was ~$110. does this sound normal. Its a very small house at about 1600sqft and the total lot size is about 8500sqft. There is two people living in the house. Does it sound like something is wrong or is that a normal water bill? Its two guys in the house so between the two of us we probably do one load of laundry a week and fill the dshwasher to the max until its ran...Any help is appreciated.
When I first moved into my home, my first bills were low ($22-35/Mo)- 1 person, low user, $70-80 in summer since the sprinkler system was running. Then wham, I received a bill for $225 or so one month! I contested it and WON back the $225 as a credit on the account, but I waited 3 months for the City to process it. You’re allowed 1 protest every 12 months. It can be based on having an unexplainable fluky charge or having a malfunction that you subsequently repaired. You must show proof of the repair. I’m pretty sure that the culprit was a leaking toilet. Once I fixed the flapper, it went back to normal. Call 3-1-1 to find out more if you’d like
