How much crude is there in the ground vs. water? What's the cost to refine a gallon of gasoline vs. that of filtering water? Are you following me here, kiddo?

Sheesh.

Oil in Texas is the same as everywhere else. CA just charges 50 cents a gallon vs TX's 20 cent a gallon. It wouldn't surprise me if CA localities piled on even more taxes. Then there's the special CA-only gasoline blend, which piles on even more expense.

Well, young fart, it's one thing to pay $4.50 for a Coke.........as if you feel you are getting "something," vs paying the same for water. Some of us "old farts" don't care for that sweet stuff anymore, but need something to wash down the $20 popcorn.
