My husband just accepted a job at HP (249 and Louetta) and we're planning to move to that side of town. (We currently live in First Colony and will be leasing out our house here.) I'm freaking out a little bit about finding everything we're used to down here up there. So far, I know I'm looking for:

- weekly, year-round swim lessons for my 6yo and 5yo (my 6yo especially, as swim is his "thing")
- a drop in childcare center than can handle all 4 children for my weekly doctor appointments, scheduled at random times

If you know of any places for either of these, I'd love to hear. Thanks!

I know there is a drop in childcare center in the Woodlands that looks nice....can't help with the other things. Good luck with your move!

Lifetime fitness is 4-5 miles for swim lessons. They have an indoor and outdoor pool.

YMCA is super close to HP but the pool is pretty crowded. Plenty of school/day cares in that area

Lifetime has always been too expensive for us, and this job comes with a paycut, so I'm sure it would be even more out of reach. Unless you can maybe do lessons without a membership, but I can't swing a family membership there.

I'm finding plenty of schools and daycares, but few (aside from the Woodlands one posted about earlier) that offer true drop-off. I am a SAHM, so I only need 2-3 hours a week of care while I go to my appointments. That's typically difficult to find, especially for 4 kids.

Ha....a little self promotion here...

I have a house for sale that is perfect for you in Longwood. And there is a big swim center right down the street on Spring Cypress from it.

Can't help on childcare, my boy just turned one. But we were thrilled with the Texas Childrens location right down the street at Louetta and Grant.

You might want to take a look at www.northwesthoustonkidstuff.com. It's part of the Houston KidStuff online websites and has lots of kid information. Welcome to this side of town!
