My wife & I are moving back to Houston in mid-December and are in the process of searching for a home to rent. We moved from Houston in 2009 and haven't been back since then so we aren't really familiar with what sort of progress/development has taken place in some areas. On that note...

Has the eastern parts of the Heights near Main and Pecore st seen a lot of Gentrification or is it pretty much the same as it was in 09?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

I think so. I've seen a lot of redevelopment in BrookeSmith.

It actually has. Brookesmith towards the NE of Main St has also seen some movement with new constructions and plenty of rehabs. The area you speak of and South of it in Woodland Heights has also seen a nice boom in new constructions. It's actually just picking up. This whole year has seen dozens of large new construction homes or rehabs. There's more movement in Woodland Heights than the pocket between Pecore and Main, but the area continues to get better, so I expect this trend to continue. I can't remember if Main St was finished in 2009, but it's completely done now. There are plans to widen Airline all the way from Main up to 610.

There's been more development towards Studemont, between White Oak and 11th.

I wouldnt move there until they get at least a Signature Kroger and at least one overpriced restaurant that isnt so ethnic..like the Creeks. And let's get rid of real Mexican and get an El Rey drive-thru that doesn't scare me, please.

/sarcasm

Great to hear that Main St isn't still under construction...That was a mess when we would travel through that area. To be honest, one of the main draws to the area is Teotihuacan and Spanish Flower (loved those two places when we lived in Houston) and The Vineyard Church is less than a mile from where we are looking a rental house just north of Pecore St near Cordell & Temple...

Thanks,
Jim

immediate area around spanish flowers is still in transition. but driving around you see some of the homes that are obviously younger people moving in and fixing up the homes and gentrification happening. not at the pace as the rest of the heights but it is visibly there. it is spotty sure, but you see people walking their dogs, going to restaurants, hanging in their yard etc that live in the neighborhood
