Using your honest opinion as a special needs parent of school aged kids, what is the best school district for us, based on your experiences. I know no district is gonna be perfect. but what is the best i can hope for? if you had it to do over where would you live? we are not worried about the commute. we want the best for our daughter. 18Q-, 9, NONVERBAL AND MODERATE HEARING LOSS. if you want to privately email me, use paetonv1@gmail.com Thanks!

Stay away from Klein.

About 10 years ago an elementary aged kid on the spectrum had a melt down that never should have happened. The over worked and under trained teacher fearing he would hurt somebody called the cops. The Klein cops threw him face down on the floor and tie wrapped his hands behind him until he wet himself and his mom got there.

The district kept telling the parents of a high school kid that the boy was doing great. The mom finally figured out that although he was good at faking it and math and science, he could not read. IIRC, the parents sued and the district wound up paying his tuition at a boarding school for dyslexics.

The district has not learned anything new since then.

If your kids are compliant cheer leader types, they will excel in Klein.

Maybe there are some resources at the link below to pursue. Don't think it meets your needs but there are a few autism spectrum and ADHD parent groups near me in Houston. We used to attend meetings of an advocacy/support group where we used to live. That's where we found the most useful, salient info. This link might get you started as there are a wide variety of support/advocacy groups here.

Houston Organizations

Parents groups might also be found on meetup.com

Finally, check the Regional Educational Services Center. I think Houston is Region 4. There may be some useful info, contact numbers there.
