Boston isn't that great. I find that Boston has a rich history and plenty of marvelous architecture, but apart from the historic areas and the quaint, touristy vistas the city has a decidedly cramped and impatient vibe that is reflected in the ugly regional dialect. Texas history is debatably as rich if not more so. There are no "Thermopylaes of the West" in Massachusetts, just tea-parties. One who has never pronounced an "R" may dislike the Texas drawl, of course, but it reflects the inherent ease of the culture and the satisfaction of sprawling space. Wars have been fought over space. What did the Germans call it? Liebensraum?
