We are looking for a good day care (preferrably a Montessori) as close to the Medical Center as possible, but are willing to travel to the Galleria/Post Oak, museum district, or downtown area. Our budget is around $1,000/mo. So far, the only good one we've found is Montessori Country Day School. Does anyone know what the tuiton is for this place and how long the wait list is usually? And this is for an infant (expected 6/2013). Are there any other good day cares out there?

Check out Southampton Montessori. However they do start with 1 year olds (when they are walkers). May have a wait list. Another may be St. Nicholas Montessori. There are a lot of churches in the area that do have part time or full time Mother's Day out (not Montessori). St. Andrews, School for Little Children, Faith Luteran, etc.

If you haven't already lookup Bayou City Moms or Bellaire Young Mothers. These are mom networking groups where you can post questions about pretty much anything (need a doctor, recommendations for plumber, schools, etc) as well as family activities.

I understand people are very happy with Montessori Country Day, in the museum district.

I called and tuition is almost $1500 a month. Way too much!

Houston, Private Preschool - Kipling Street Academy

I have a friend with kids there, ages 1 and 4. She loves it. I know she pays around $1k a month per kid. It's in the Montrose area.

My daughter went to St. Luke's Day School from 3 months through preK. They are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. if you need those hours. It is at Edloe and Westheimer at St. Luke's Methodist. Not Montissori but is a great school. Christ Church Cathedral downtown and Creme de la Creme downtown also have good reputations. All good programs that take infants are pricey.

In the same vein, can anybody recommend day care services around downtown, Rice Military/Washington Ave, and the Heights? We have a baby due in February so we're looking for infant child care beginning in late may or june. We're already on the wait list for Kipling St. and Trinity day school, but we would like some other options. Right now Creme de la creme is our backup plan while we're waiting to come off the wait list for the other places, but that place seems almost too busy and concerns us.

I passed on Kipling and went for Esperanza's on Roy st. We have been there for over a year and are very happy. It's the same price as Kipling.
