I have not checked into it but have read you can lease solar panels instead of purchasing them.

if the return on investment is 18 years i seriously dought any solar panel will last that long. Just like leds are supposed to be good for 50,000 hours or some bs like that. good luck.

Big oil claimed decades ago that solar panels were short lived and would never recoup the cost of installation. They spent many dollars marketing this stigma. Even the oldest Solar panels have proven themselves, many of the first ones ever built are still functioning today. But rumors take forever to die. You can roll the cost into your home loan. The only con I can think of is they only work when the sun is out. If you install batteries so you can use them at night, you may have just lost any cost savings.

That and HOAs nazis wont allow them. Everyones house must look the same in Houston or it's ugly and an abomination.

HOAs can't prohibit solar panels.
