plan to buy a house near the intersection of Kat freeway and Sam Houston tollway. Could be within a 3 to 4 mile radius around the intersection, but would prefer a location close to either road for each freeway access. Because there is a good chance that I will move in 5 to 6 years, I would like to buy a house whose value could appreciate (or at least not depreciate). Any relevant information is highly appreciated.

Well, that's right in my neighborhood. On the south side of I-10, you're looking at a price range of $300-600K for Memorial Bend, Memorial Plaza, Fonn Villas, Memorial Hollow, Wilchester, Nottingham, Nottingham Forest, etc...zip codes 77079 and 77024 on a HAR.com search.

On the north side of I-10, near Gessner and Kempwood/Westview, etc prices are a lot more reasonable and many believe it is an up-and-coming area. The neighborhoods are Royal Oaks, Nob Hill, Spring Shadows, Spring Lea, and lots of others in the 77043, 77080 neighborhood.

Good luck! Let us know if you have any more questions.

I'm interested in these neighborhoods! The homes look gorgeous and the lots are large. However, I noticed that the interiors are a little dated, and some of the kitchens are small. Is it easy to get a permit to expand the kitchen, or are there too many regulations?

South of I-10 there are a lot of nice houses around that area, which is known as Town and Country. North of 10 you go back and forth between decent homes and slum type apartments. My Dad used to live there in a townhome. Over the years he had his place broke into, his car stolen and he had to keep certain items in storage to keep them safe. It's probably not nearly as bad if you own a house. You've got to also keep in mine the schools aren't as nice north of the freeway. If school is not an issue, you can probably find some decent homes north of 10.

Interested in that area also. Is Stratford considered a good HS?

Stratford is an excellent HS. They have many students that do not live in its zone (or district) apply to go there.
