Hi all,

now that everything with my relocation is moving further, i'm getting a better understanding of my new (next) life in Texas and I finally decided to buy an house.

My maximum budget is 150K $ and my office is on the energy corridor, very close to the loop.

Unfortunately I don't know yet all the district names, but I'm basically looking at the area very close to the G Bush Park.

I understand that the western part of the park is called Katy, but I don't know the name of the eastern one.

I don't have kids yet, but I should consider this option in my search criteria

Has anyone any suggestion?

Thanks

Look in zip 77077, there are some nice quiet neighborhoods there, older homes though, but close to all amenities and work. There are still homes in your price range. You don't have to worry about schools for many more years yet and many of the elementaries there are good.

Memorial Parkway and West Memorial are two older neighborhoods on lower Katy that will fit your budget and remain close enough to work. Both are qiuet and kept up.

Thanks guys.

Do you think that my only option is a resale? No chances within my budget for a new one?
Do resales represent a good option there in Houston?

Thanks

In "G" I don't think you'll find much new construction. You'd have to go farther into the suburbs.

These are good suggestions but if you can get into Nottingham Country that would be my first choice, it's just a bit closer in. Good schools all the way through and easy access to the I-10. Yes the houses are older in these neighborhoods but they have the potential to appreciate while you will always lose on a new house.

If it was my money buying right now I'd put this one at the top of the list:

1343 Crossfield Dr, Katy, TX 77450 - HAR.com

It's been flipped it so the owner has a short timeline.

I like this neighborhood but it is limited on houses at the $150K budget. There are two others in there either $150K or just under - one is a HUD foreclosure needing considerable work - and the other a re-sale needing considerable work.

The address above (the third one) is a Bridgebilt Product. Google Bridgeport and you can see it's a low-income buyers/ neighborhood stablization program. It is also sold as is.
