Dominoes is teaming up with Nuro to offer driver-less pizza delivery.

This doesn't affect me because my standards of pizza are way higher than dominoes. I prefer Vinny's, Luigi's, and others. But I'm curious to see these automated cars around the city.

We have had their Prius test cars in our area (Meyerland/Bellaire) for months. They are all over the place, I assume testing their software since they have a person in the driver's seat. Will be very interesting once Kroger and Domino's start using them in force.

Wow, I assumed we were at least 5 years away from fully autonomous cars on the roads. This will be interesting to follow. There are millions of jobs on the line in the transportation industry.

The thing I don't understand is how Dominoes will be saving money with this. Pizza places including dominoes don't provide their cars. They contract employees who already have cars to deliver their pizzas. But with driverless delivery, this isn't exactly possible so they'll have to pay for their own cars.

According to this article: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2019/06...ton-this-year/

"Nuro doesn't have to worry about its cargo getting annoyed by a slow ride, so its cars stick to low speeds—currently under 25 miles per hour—to minimize the chances of a serious accident. With no need to worry about passenger comfort, Nuro's cars can slam on the brakes the moment they encounter a situation they don't fully understand."

I shutter to think about robot cars slowly and tentatively navigating Houston's streets. The road rage will be legendary.

Starts with driverless pizza, ends up with a guinea pig getting you convicted of murder.

Is it even legal to operate a driverless car on the road? What if you get into an accident with one, how do you get their insurance information? Do they even carry insurance? Can they get a speeding ticket? Do they stop for little old ladies, dogs, and kids? I have so many questions!

I'd order one just to see it. I don't see how it's better though. My pizza dude comes to the door. I have to go to the curb to get this one.

I see pizza robbery going down. If this thing stops at random, it better stick to nice neighborhoods.
