Hi,

I need some guidance with regard to the following private schools and what is good about each.

My child is accepted at two of these and wait listed at the other two.

Would an all girls school be better than the others?

Also do wait lists usually stand any real chance of an admission in that academic year?

I am very new to Houston.

Please advise!

Regards,
Noni

May I ask what you decided and how your child likes the school and your thoughts?

First of all, those schools are from four (very) different denominations. They all have decent reputations. The obvious answer is pick the school that is sponsored by the church from your denomination. If you don't care about the religious distinctions, then I'd have to ask why you omitted any secular schools from your list.

Lots has been written about these schools on these boards - my 2 cents...

ROBS and AOS enjoy a slightly better reputation (for what that's worth). AOS is a little more culturally diverse than ROBS, maybe as a result of its Greek heritage. Both manage to place very well for high school, primarily Episcopal, St. Agnes (for girls) Kinkaid and St. John's.

Duchesne is a different beast as an all-girls school, you either want that for your girls or you don't.

Presby is a good little school, maybe not quite the academic reputation of the others. Honestly though, if you like it better in the end it probably doesn't make any difference.

Is AOS rated higher than Duchesne?

That would be surprising to me.

Here is the 2018 high school placement for ROBS.

https://www.robs.org/page/admission/beyond-robs

Does anyone know where I can find it for AOS and PS?

Their marketing materials lists all the schools over time, but I would like to know for the specific year.
