Houston named one of the Greenest Cities in America: No, really - CultureMap Houston

My favorite part of Houston's transformation over the past decade is the huge push for green spaces. I can't wait till Buffalo Bayou Park is complete.

Good, I guess, but not true? No Seattle? They had compost and recycling heavily implemented when I was there. I really don't get why Brooklyn or NYC (guess they mean Manhattan) are so high either. Lots of trash and pollution.

Houston is actually doing very well - if you don't count all those hundreds of other cities that are greener.

I remember a few years back someone from NYC saying 'You guys have a LOT of trees'. It tripped me out later when someone from the ATL said we don't have any trees. Go figure

What are the details on BB... what exactly are they "completing" or, what is the master plan? finish date?

Go up into any highrise in Houston. The city is very green. Trees as far as I can see.

I might concede the article's point if they were talking about large metropolitan cities. But they're just talking cities. Your comment could be said of hundreds of small cities. Although they don't have highrises to view it from.

After seeing the list I am starting to wonder about it. Green does not have to mean trees and nature around. There are lots of factors.

1. New York, NY
2. Oakland, CA
3. Austin, TX
4. Concord, CA
5. Brooklyn, NY
6. SanFrancisco, CA
7. MountainView, CA
8. Dallas, TX
9. Fremont, CA
10. Houston, TX
11. Portland, OR
12. Richmond, CA
13. Bedford, MA
14. Springfield, MO
15. Atlanta, GA
