I bought like 5000 live oak trees like 4 yrs ago and planted them in my property to sell them at future time. Now in the present, their trunks range between 2-6 inches and from 10 to 18 ft tall. Can somebody please tell me how to get hooked with a contractor who may want to buy them? I have the machine to unpluck the tree and give warranty of one year if I plant it. Thank you so much for your time and help.

Why don't you donate some of them?

Galveston is in dire need of trees after Ike destroyed 90% of their 100+ year old Live Oaks.

Use it as a tax write off. I'm sure the city would give you some kind of write off form to fill out & show to your tax man.

I think the whole point in him acquiring them was to make some money. Not buy them, plant them, nurture them, and then just give them away.

Its a tax write off for his business how is that giving anything away? Its less money he/she has to pay to the government come tax time. He places his own value, time, nurture, etc. on those trees & fills out a form the City of Galveston gives. Common business sense.

5,000 trees is a lot he could give 500 away to Galveston & that would help out the island immensely while still giving him 4,500 to profit from.

You don't even begin to understand the scope of trees that were destroyed. Over 40,000 trees were literally wiped off the face of the map after Ike.

Go by your trees, spend $$$ to take care of them and then you donate them.

See if the tax write offs come close to recouping your money, time and effort.

You don't even know his tax situation

I know of at least one tree farm in your area giving them away due to the explosion in small tree farms that have opened in the last few years. I got 10 the other day and saw two more trailers loaded driving off as I got there to pick up mine. I got 30gal Red Oaks, but they were also giving away 15 gal Live Oaks and Water Oaks just to thin their inventory and reduce their operating costs. They cannot sell them right now. The market is glutted and not enough new development to sustain the operation.

Good Luck, but that tax write off is looking like a viable option right now. Perhaps next year will be better.

I easily have over 5,000 Live Oak, Black Oak, & White Oak acorns freshly picked off my own trees from last Fall jam packed in my secondary refrigerator right now waiting to be potted & planted. I'd glady give some away if it meant helping out a place that lost over 40,000 trees.

They've all been float tested & I've already germinated some of them into 6-10 inch tall seedlings.
