We will be relocating to the area this summer and are focusing on the Katy area. We have a daughter with a physical disability who will be 4 years old. She has not yet attended preschool as we have been dealing with other issues. I have no idea how to go about getting her started in preschool . . . is there assistance for children with physical disabilities? We are not involved in any special needs programs, etc., therefore don't have a social worker or other medical representative to guide us.

I am not sure even where to start, having never dealt with special needs before. Currently we go to a church that provides a "volunteer" to assist her during class & that seems like it works out well for her (we just recently started sending her to class there, previously she came to the service with us) She has no mental/developmental issues and we are hoping she can go to a regular class with kids her age, but she will likely need help in getting around.

Additionally, we are not ready to send her to a full pre-k program for 5 days, would like to find a church program 2-3 days per week.

We would appreciate any input from others with special needs children, or educators, etc.

Thank you!

Katy ISD has half day Pre-k and PPCD. Call the Katy ISD ECI dept to get her tested and see if she qualifies.

Thank you for the info.... Reviewed the info on the website & it does not appear that she will qualify. I guess maybe I will have to start calling around to different preschools to see what they usually do for children with physical disabilities.
