Within the Clear Lake area, houses in Camino South are cheaper b/c they're smaller and older. The neighborhood is fine at your budget range.
There are better areas within Clear Lake with bigger houses and nicer looking yard but they're also more expensive.
I have friends who live there and I go there often. I haven't heard any complain about that neighborhood.

Both 45 and 288 into town are punishing drives during rush hour. I could never do them daily. If your husband is an early commuter, he would be fine though. By early I mean on the freeway by 6am.

Thank you everyone for the info. Very helpful..we've viewed a few houses in Pearland and really like the Southwyck area. We're focusing in that area and keeping the option of Deer Park open if anything pops up...houses seem to be flying off the market all of a sudden...
