They are all there already. Though none near the location they are building this highrise. There is a Randalls in midtown which is about 7 blocks away.

Commerce Towers is a highrise that's been in downtown for a while now.

In Eado, streets, utilities, drainage, etc., all date from the early 20th century and will have to be completely redone before any highrise is built. Also, some of the vacant property is brownfield or otherwise contaminated. Taking care of these issues is very costly.

There is a CVS at the corner of Lockwood and Harrisburg. Kombat Kroger is at the corner of Polk and Cullen. That's about it. Eastwood-area and current Eado residents do most of their grocery shopping at the midtown Randalls, Disco Kroger on Montrose, HEB on W. Alabama or one of the Whole Foods stores. There have been reports that a "discount" grocery store with limited selection is in the works, but what's really needed is a good, full-line grocery store.

There is also the hi-rise tower above Phoenicia across from Discovery Green
