Hi All,

My dog (kid) needs a soft palate surgery done. She's a 3 yr old Cavalier King Charles spaniel. My regular vet does not offer that surgery and is referring me to other specialists. The quotes I'm getting from a few vet specialists are around 2000$ and above. Please suggest some vet you know in houston who does it good and charges an affordable price.

Thanks a lot from me and my dog.

There is a low cost vet clinic on 610 N. Look it up, but DO NOT expect the same level of care frol that place as you would get at, say, the vet hospital on 610 S near Memorial Park.

Be careful ... sometimes you get what you pay for. Sounds like you want a good animal surgeon for your pet so hopefully you will find one that people you know personally have had experience with.

Jeez, I knew those trendy (poorly bred) Sex & the City dogs were money pits, but not to THAT degree.

I don't know if it is any less expensive and of course it is in College Station but have you thought about Texas A & M? Worth a call?

A & M in College Station will definitely be just as expensive, if not moreso.

low cost vet clinic is the only cheap option in town but believe me, the care is not the same. I have a dog that went in with parvo and came out missing a leg. Completely true and not an exaggeration at all.

But, at least my dog is alive, because I couldn't afford several thousand dollars worth of treatment at A&M

Thanks, that's useful to know. In the UK it can sometimes, and I stress sometimes, be a bit cheaper to go to a training hospital, thought it might be the same here. Sorry about your dog though, that is awful.

Texas A&M is, in my opinion (as a dog trainer for 25+ years) the best place of all for any kind of pet treatment. I've driven my dogs up there frequently when they were suffering from cancer and needed serious and delicate surgeries. A&M also has students visit the recovering animals often. Your Cav will get the best-possible care there.

I love my dogs dearly but, if they were run over in front of a certain animal hospital on 610, I'd drive them elsewhere. I've seen and heard, personally, how those "vets" laugh about not really doing anything for severely injured dogs.
