Anyone know of a site (or sites) where I can go and find out what pipelines are in a specific area. As I look around at homes, I've found one I am somewhat interested in but it is about 2 or 3 houses away from a cul-de-sac. That cul-de-sac opens to an easement where you can see those posts that they mark pipelines with. Not sure if it is no big deal to be that near or not but would like to see if I can find a site that tells me what pipelines run where - anyone know of any?

Sorry I don't, but I am pretty sure that if you are considering the issues from a safety standpoint, there is no getting around them. Every neighborhood I have ever lived in has gas from the city coming in. We have a neighbor who is 100% electric but of course the gas lines are still there. I think trying to find one map would be difficult because not only are there many owners of pipelines, there are many products pushed through as well all with different safety aspects. Some are compressed more, some are more volatile, etc. If you find a site that lists them all, I hope you post it. I would love to look at it. Good luck!

I think these are more than gas going to the neighborhood ... these are gas and perhaps chemical transport lines. Not sure if this will give me what I need but it seems to be a good place to start. http://www.rrc.state.tx.us/data/online/gis/index.php#

Subdivisions put hiking trails and parks on them.

My BFF has done pipeline work for years. She tells me if one had a problem, it would takes days to figure out whose it was there are so many.

You can go to the railroad commission of texas website and pull up an online GIS map. Its a bit slow, so you need some patience, but it works.

If they have post the they should be marked by number; specific sign and named if any hazard as required. No sign normally means its a no digging marking sometimes used.
