Hi, all

I am building a new house, the foundation was poured a few weeks ago, and it was good, I don't see any problem. However, when I checked my house today, I saw they had dug two holes, one in my bathroom, one in the hall way, they said some leaking detected of the underground pipes, so they need to open the concrete floor to find the leaking pipes. I am worried, is this going to affect my foundation quality? Will it crack later because the concrete is not a whole piece any more.

Did you go back to your first post to thank all those who offered you their advice? Now you want more. I'm suspicious of your builders answer but it could happen. Normally those underground waste and feed lines are put under pressure and the code officials check it before they can be covered. They should be covered with sand to cushion the movement of the concrete slab.

Yes this repair or refill of this hole is safe and everlasting.............IF it is done properly. So you are stuck trusting those who make the decisions.

They must flare out the bottom of the hole's edge on the entire perimeter. This prevents the patch from moving about or rising up under earths pressure. Next they must use a bonding agent to paint on the broken exposed area where the new cement will have to stick. This surface area should be washed so it's free from any dust.

Smoothing the surface flush is the biggest challenge and rarely perfect. I would not like it but no builder on earth is going to hammer up the whole slab and pour a new one just for you.

Based on that builders promises to you thus far I would not trust that they will do this repair well.

I am sorry, did I post similar question before? I believe it's someone else. Not me.
I am not new to Houston, but I am new to this forum.
Thank you for your answer. I think they fill the holes properly now.
