I will check cinco ranch out. Thank you. What about Cypress? It looked pretty good to me. I have realized that I shouldn't go based on crime stats cause the population in these towns are a lot smaller then where I live here in California and I can't compare them in that way. So I thank you all for your imput. It is really helping me.

Yes, what is known as Katy area. It isn't within the city limits of Katy (most of what is called Katy is actually "Katy area".

I live in Cinco and love the South Katy area, but the area is growing fast - everything outside of Houston seems to be growing by leaps and bounds - 40,000 to 50,000 new homes are built annually in the Houston metro areas. Katy still manages to have a small town feel b/c it is currently mostly residential, but if by small town, you mean small population, you might be disappointed.

Well I currently live in Huntington beach California where the population Is around 170,000 so Definitely Katy is small population to me. I looked up Cinco ranch and it looks amazing to me. So beautiful. I am mainly looking for great schools and lower crime. I have a special needs child and it is important to have good school for him. I also have a two year old and a 14 year old daughter. What are your thought on Cypress?

I have a friend whose child goes to Cypress, she was not happy last time I spoke to her, infact she thought about moving her child to a homeschooling, but again, that is her opinion. I have know people who live there and they like it very well, as I mentioned I am very familiar with Katy, and for what I knew and learned when I moved from California too. I enjoyed it very much, there is another subdivision behind I don't know if I mentioned it before, but is called Pine Mills and that goes to the Katy ISD.
I will go into the Cypress ISD and Katy ISD and do a comparison with greatschools.com website as well.

Hi shermomof3!

I moved to Friendswood almost 4 years ago from Salt Lake City, Utah and I LOVE it here! We did a lot of research on-line before we came to Texas, using much of the information on City-data.com and we were very pleased with what we found. Friendswood has the community spirit that you are looking for. They have the town park with the gazebo and all summer long they have band concerts on Friday nights........a Christmas parade and a 4th of July parade. They celebrate Christmas in the schools (not just the "holidays"), with Christmas concerts at the schools. Friendswood School District is one of the best in the state with some of the highest scores and finest students and an above-average graduate ratio. We actually "moved across the river" just a few months ago to ensure that our kids would be in the Friendswood District. They were in the Clear Creek District, which is also very good, but we are like you, we wanted the hometown feeling. The high school my son would have attended has students from neighboring cities, so where is the unity? We wanted the unity of having the kids in the school all from the same city, so when it's time for the Homecoming parade, we know where it will be....in the heart of our city. I can go on and on about Friendswood. I hope you are still in the process of looking......and take the time to check it out. Will you get a chance to come to the Houston area to check things out? My family and I would love to meet you and talk to you more about it. It has not been that long since we were in your shoes and we are so glad we made the choice we did.
