I'm moving to Houston, TX and thinking of 3 schools, The Post Oak School; Awty International and River Oaks Baptist School. Please does anybody have any views or insights to these 3 schools? All views and comments appreciated.

My daughter just graduated from River Oaks Baptist. It is an excellent traditional school with rigorous academics. I would highly recommend it. However, ROBS only goes through 8th grade. Awty goes through 12th and has an international focus. Post Oak School is a Montessori school. It goes through 8th grade on its main campus. It opened a high school a year ago in the museum district and is adding a grade a year. The high school is very small.

Thanks Katie and ToyYot, what of Awti school? I never heard of the school of the woods before though. I am looking at grades 6 and 10. I have seen the reviews on River oaks on another website, but i seem to be leaning towards the Post Oaks School (maybe their website?.... not sure why)
thanks

To which grade(s) are you applying?

If you are moving here this summer, it will be hard to get into some of the private schools at 10th grade as many are filled up at 9th. 6th is a natural entry point but you may have missed the window for this fall as many of the schools are full already. Boy(s) or girl(s)? There are some fine religious schools that are boys only or girls only. What part of town are you going to be in?

If you are interested in an all girl's school, you might look at St. Agnes Academy for high school and Duschesne for any grade. Other coed religious schools are Episcopal High School, Houston Christian High School, St. Pius High School, Second Baptist School (K-12), St. Thomas Episcopal (K-12), River Oaks Baptist (K-8), St. Francis Episcopal (K-8), Annunciation Orthodox School (K-8), St. Mark's Episcopal School (K-8), Presbyterian School (K-8) There are probably many others but these are some of the more popular ones. If you are moving into town there may be some open slots due to attrition or folks moving out of town.
