I can already notice a difference in the number of mosquitoes in my yard after my neighbor had his misting system installed. BTW, he paid about $4,000 for his, but he said his was a very large installation.

Does anyone DIY re-filling the repellant for your misting system?

The previous owners installed a system and we had the installing company come out to refill for a few months, but the price nearly doubled and I began to have doubts about the honesty of the company--e.g., they sent a bill for a refill that happened on such and such a date, and when I checked the tank (a couple weeks later), it was empty. So we stopped the service. Am wondering about starting it back up and handling it myself. Anyone do this on your own?

I wouldn't think it would be difficult.

You definitely need to setup the tank schedule on your own. I wouldn't be surprised if you had a misting or two setup late in the night that you didn't know about.

We did check everything. We downloaded the manual and set up the timers ourselves. Double-checked with neighbors who have the same system. (But thanks for suggesting a possibility--any folks buying a house always need to check to see how previous owners have things set up. And there are so many things to check--that it's easy to overlook something)

I think the problem was that the company wasn't honest--they just SAID they replaced the misting solution. (They never scheduled a time to refill, just sent us bills.) So combine "disappearing" solution with a 50% increase in price, we cancelled.

Has anyone re-filled the solution on their own? I tried googling and got some sites where folks were selling products. I'd rather hear some reviews and experiences first.

Default Mosquito Misting Systems

Why have a mosquito misting system? To reduce mosquitoes in a cost effective way, to prevent west nile, and other mosquito borne diseases, not mentioning the nuisance.

i would look for the following features in a mosquito misting system:

1. Is the system safe for humans
2. Will the system work effectively
3. Is the system cost effective
4. Can the system operate automatically
5. can i easily replace any of the parts as easily?
