I've seen numerous threads about solar screens vs. tint. This is not a thread about that, and I've seen the recommendations for the tint places.

I'm looking for recommendations or good experiences with companies in the Houston areas that install custom solar screens. I've seen so many businesses advertising these, and I hate to just pick one randomly.I've had good luck with recommendations from this board so...any recommendations?

We have some massive windows facing west, so when the sun is setting the temperatures are soaring. I want a few on large arched windows, maybe with color, with cross-bars.

I take it you weren't here in 2011? Now that was hot!

I concur. This year is near-normal for Houston. I for one am not complaining. I would check Angie's List for solar screen people. We do have solar screens on our windows and I believe it does help keep our cooling costs down.

Average summer so far. It's hot but I've been through worse.

Thankfully rain has been minimal, otherwise it would be humid as hell.

Maybe I'm just overreacting because this is my first year as a homeowner and those bills are something else. I'm always happy when it rains as well...free lawn watering!

Any recommendations for solar screens? lol

My co-worker got some high-end window film - he said you can't see it on the window - doesn't obsure anything at night and that it made an immense difference in his bills. He said you can't even feel the heat coming in anymore.

No! I thought I preemtively put the kibosh on this! I'm looking at both but I know where to get the tint because of earlier threads.

They used to allow it...maybe it changed and that's why I can't find any references. Send me a PM. Thanks.
