We just came back from our first fact-finding mission in Houston due to Husband's relocation. I saw what felt like 1000 neighborhoods, houses, home builders, etc. Basically, we are considering building or purchasing new. Our top neighborhoods so far are The Creeks at Augusta Pine, The Harmony and Creighton (I think that is correct). 2 are in Conroe and one in Klein.

I would love thoughts on any of the topics - home building v. buying, location and neighborhoods - and the schools being first in my minds.

Husband's job is near Beltway 8 and I-45, We have first grade twins!

Thanks so much!

The closer to work the better, because driving on I-45 during rush hour sucks ... big time, assuming that there's no wrecks or nobody got pulled over (same thing)

Heading up north from beltway 8 on 45 really isn't that bad.

You might want to check flood plain maps to make sure the ones in CISD aren't in one.

I personally love Augusta Pines. I think it's a beautiful development.

I just discovered Augusta Pines. It looks really nice. Do you live there? If so, what is the commute like to 45 S?

Almost every school in Conroe ISD and Klein ISD are going to be on par with each other. Within Klein, however, you most likely would want to avoid Klein Forest, as it is consistently ranked near the bottom of Houston area high schools. Klein High is usually ranked in the top, with Klein Oak and Klein Collins being decently near the top.

There was a time when Klein was a top district. No so anymore. It is mediocre at best, even if you don't count Forest.

If Klein is it, go for Collins.

I don't live in Augusta Pines, sorry. I used to live in Spring, near Louetta and Ella, but so much has happened since I moved (Spring Stuebner, etc.) so I'm not sure how it would impact the commute.

I can only assume positively though.
