Also, I meant to add that the two Houston (non-Woodlands) SM stores were next to Venture stores instead of Target stores. In 1997, when Venture went bankrupt, they sold their stores to Kmart, which was a shock because Kmart closed a huge number of stores in 1994, and the Venture stores were much more like Target stores than older Kmart stores. It would have been perfect for Target to acquire the Venture stores and convert them to Target Greatland. These Kmart stores still ended up closing in 2002. Venture was once owned by May Department Stores, which also owned a chain in Greater Philadelphia called Clover which was very similar to Venture. Clover stores closed in 1996 and most were completely gutted to be replaced by Kohl's stores.

Also, the Marshalls in The Woodlands wasn't originally a "MegaStore". The store was expanded into part of what used to be the original Barnes & Noble in The Woodlands, before it moved to the mall. Golf Galaxy also takes up part of the former B&N space. Sort of ironically, the Starbucks in the Target center coexisted for a number of years with the old Barnes & Noble and its Starbucks/Cheesecake Factory section.
