Want to reduce traffic in Houston?
Start giving tickets to people purposely driving slow on the left lane and creating traffic jams.

Capitalism! We do it for health care, why not our roads?

What worries me about this is the potential slippery slope. How long before the only roads getting maintained are the toll roads? In its current form I think this upcharging is ok. I just worry about where this kind of action might lead...

So you're saying that someone driving 55 instead of 60 in the left lane is what causes 4+ lanes of a freeway to come to a dead stop during rush hour?

No not during rush hour, but people doing that can make rush hour start earlier or last longer. It's especially frustrating when four idiots combine and form a line of no passage. I'm tired of seeing semis in the left lane. They should never be allowed in the left lane.

September 9: Katy Managed Lanes Peak Period Toll Rates Change
Toll rates for the Katy Managed Lanes, which combine High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, mass transit, and toll lanes, will also increase effective Monday, September 9. The rates are being adjusted to maintain free-flowing traffic for the various users of the managed lanes during peak hours. The charts below represent the full-trip rates (all three tolling locations) during peak hours and directions. The full-trip rate at all other times remains unchanged at $1.
WOW I was considering getting a toll tag but if rates are going up, I don't know.

that already happens. hasn't perry and his admin gone on record saying they do not believe maintaining or creating roads are a state issue, but private enterprise can do better? i mean there is a reason they are allowing so much development over toll roads than anything else. Houston isnt nearly as bad as Austin is though. Has Austin built a non-toll road in the past 10 years?

Anybody want to take any bets that taxpayers pay for more than 75% of the cost of those toll roads?
