We are moving in the Fall from out of state. My husband's job will be in Pearland but his children live in Katy with his ex, so we need somewhere in between. Close enough to Katy to take kids to school and close enough to Pearland to not have a terrible commute to work. Our child together goes to free special education preschool in our home state now through the school district. What is a good area between Pearland and Katy that has a good school district, preferably one that participates in Special Education Preschool. We are looking to rent a 3-4 bedroom house with a budget around 1200/month. I have seen many houses in our range all over but don't know what neighborhoods are good. We were looking at Missouri City. Also, what are the commutes like? I am from a big city but he is from a small city with no freeway.

I would give serious consideration to Sugarland. It's sort of in between, perhaps closer to Katy, but it can meet your criteria.

Sugar Land, Richmond, Rosenberg. All will be closer to Katy but meet your criteria best (budget, schools)

Where do they live in Katy. South Katy is huge! Is it closer to the toll road or I 10?

Well, Sugar Land would be ideal, but probably not on that housing budget. Try Missouri City (but be very careful with schools) and Richmond.

I'd probably go with Richmond and deal with the commute.

I literally laughed out loud when I read this.

The median family income in Mo City in 2010 was $87K, more than Katy (proper), but less than Cinco Ranch. It hardly seems like a place I could picture Morgan Freeman chaining the doors. LOL
