Apparently, the New Jersey Devils are close to bankruptcy and are about to be taken over by the NHL. I know we have sniffed around before but I wonder if an business owner in Houston is prepared to try to bring the NHL to Houston once again.

would,nt they still face the problems that the areos had.. lack of venue...

if memory serves places like toyota center wanted more money because they said they had to keep passing up other events to fit into NHL scehule and reliant did not want to do it ither..I forget their reason... their was talks of converting the reliant center(but the owners said the aeros revenue did not justify the renovation cost..

Only Les Alexander can get a NHL team. On top of that there is no way they are moving the Devils here or anywhere. Phoenix was different because the city did not want to buck up for a new stadium. They did finally approved the money for it.

A bankrupt team that can't find a venue
let me guess... they want tax dollars, too.

I assume anybody who takes them on will have money.. in fact to even buy into a team you need to be able to put up a sizable precent of the cost.. I just can't think of any millionaire or billionaires in Houston that care enough about Hockey to pay out.. maybe a out of towner but if that was they case they would be looking to move them to a city with a better hockey culture.

Les Alexander has been trying to get a team for years. Just because you buy a team does not mean you get to move it.

Not just that,
because he lives in Houston doesn't mean that he's gonna want it in Houston.
He's gonna put that team wherever he thinks is more profitable.

Does anyone think they would do well in Houston? I just don't see it is a hockey town. I went to one Aeros game over the years and it just seems like the only people who would watch hockey were transplants from hockey places.

Houston has a lot of expats from Canada and a lot of people who have moved here from the Midwest and Northeast, so there are people here who love hockey.

The problem I see is that many of those fans already have their home team and Houston will likely run into the same problem that Phoenix has.
