Too late, it's already halfway there!

Those whose hate growth are welcome to move to a dead-end metropolis like Youngstown OH or Detroit MI. Even some TX cities have little growth (though there's not many of them these days). Or just live and work in a rural area.

Those of us who wisely accept the growing economy don't get all hung up on the traffic and parking impacts. It's just part of life in a healthy big metro and more of a positive sign than a negative. The next time you have to park at the outer edge of the strip mall parking lot, because the rest is full, you should be grateful to be in Houston.

I don't think people mind growth but uneven growth is another thing entirely. You have two viewpoints with good links on what is going in Houston. A largely successful boom in the middle of a nation wide recession but one that is obviously benefiting only about a little less than half the population; professionals in key industries and skilled labor. From that angle, the Forbes articles are right and they sing the praises there all they want.

The article I posted tells the other half; bad social services, poor education, poverty and lack of access to healthcare. A big chunk of the growth is also low wage service sector jobs.

Like I've been saying I knew there was a reason why Forbes and all those other financial rags are praising TX but not other states faring well.

Also why the only people that seem to buy the hype are the people most benefitting from the boom; skilled laborers and professionals in the right industries. I love Texas needs to face facts instead of just embracing right wing jingoism and telling the people not faring well to tough it up.

Mother Jones? Puleez. That's a far-left rag.
