True, there's lots of ugly cities around the World.
Houston has the disadvantage of being 100% flat

Caracas (#4) is ugly as s...., but this is what people see everyday when they look North.
Spoiler

Houston shouldn't make the top 10 ugliest cities in America, let alone the world. Half the rust belt cities in PA and OH would make up most of that list. Seriously, Houston is uglier than Detroit? This is a joke.

Sounds like this article just rounded up the usual suspects for abuse. Houston has sublime institutions and low enough employment so that most people can afford to enjoy it!
Agree. I doubt whoever came up with the ranking has ever been to Houston, or if they have, they never got off the freeway. Most likely, it's influenced by those who are so jealous of Houston's success. For those who have made the snide remarks in this thread, do the rest of us a favor and just leave. And don't let the door hit you in the butt.

^^^^^^ this. They lost all credibility when they put us in the same category as Detroit.

Agreed - Houston was robbed by not being in top 3 at least.

I post stuff much worse about Austin in the Austin forum all the time. I call Austin "Houston's hillbilly cousin". Anyway, if the shoe fits, wear it. Houston is pretty damn ugly (95%) and 5% really nice.

Guess it depends on the person, some people look at things differently than others.

Glad i'm not one of those who views everything in a negative point of view.

How is acknowledging that which is ugly is in fact ugly a negative point of view?

I certainly appreciate that which is beautiful for the fact that it is beautiful.
